WELCOMESHIP ADVOCACY STRATEGY

The Welcomeship project aims at advocating at a local, national and European level for community-based entrepreneurship as a tool for building inclusive communities.
The following general key advocacy results aiming at mainstreaming of community-based entrepreneurship as a tool for the inclusion of young migrants and refugees are promoted by all partners of the project during the entire duration of the project:
Community-based entrepreneurship for promoting inclusive societies is being mainstreamed when working with local authorities, public institutions, schools, CSOs, youth centers, and SMEs, making stakeholders more aware of the concept;
The coalition with like-minded organisations or institutions with the same interest on the local and European level is being built by all partners;
Partner organisations are recognised as facilitators of community-based entrepreneurship ecosystem, which means strengthening a network of resources, policies and entrepreneurship stakeholders to create a more favorable environment for entrepreneurial ideas to thrive.
The following key advocacy results are to be reached by the partners with the assistance of the lead organisation and the partner responsible for this task:

  • The advocacy activities for concrete initiatives and programmes supporting community-based entrepreneurship are being conducted at the local level and the idea has reached policy makers while partner organisations are recognised as valuable contributors in this process; also young people are consulted and involved;
  • Increased opportunities and resources are created at the local level for young people with migrant background and local youth to engage and create new community-based entrepreneurship initiatives;
  • Motivated groups of youth entrepreneurs with migrant backgrounds in collaboration with local youth are created and they actively work on generating new ideas based on community-based entrepreneurship as a step towards a change of perception of the community towards migrants and refugees.

In order to work towards these key advocacy results, the partners of the Welcomeship project have developed Local Advocacy / Action Plans using a Template which you can find here.

As a result of the Welcomeship project, we will be publishing the Guidebook for Inclusive Communities, which analyzes how to use community-based entrepreneurship learning as a tool for the inclusion of young migrants and refugees. It looks at the effects of the entire project on inclusion (impact assessment) but also on learning elements and how they can contribute to the integration of young migrants and refugees in local communities. It will also highlight best practice examples of the piloted Course combined with the implementation of entrepreneurial ideas in collaboration with community stakeholders. An important part of this Guidebook are the policy recommendations, covering the local, regional, national and EU leve
